Apple launched its iPhone FaceTime video-calling system in the kingdom last week

Apple is spearheading a push by foreign companies to ensure that men and women will be allowed to work together in Saudi Arabia, according to a report in the Financial Times.

The report noted that the company “has received assurances from authorities that that they would not face prosecution for genders mixing in the workplace.”

Apple launched its iPhone FaceTime video-calling system in the kingdom last week, just before a meeting between CEO Tim Cook and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the company’s headquarters in Cupertino.

The move came after the kingdom lifted restrictions on internet calling services last year.

Apple was one of several technology companies visited by the crown prince during his visit to the United States, which also included Google and Facebook.
