RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA: A project implemented by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), through its effective partnership with King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has produced 50,000 protective masks in the Hadramawt governorate, part of an ongoing effort to combat COVID-19 in Yemen.

More than sixty women from both the IDP and host communities in Hadramawt participated in manufacturing the masks, taking an active role in the public response to the COVID-19 epidemic in Yemen. The women received training in sewing to produce the masks, which in turn will lead to improving their levels of income generation and economic self-reliance. The masks will be distributed in cooperation with local Hadramawt authorities.

In cooperation with KSrelief, the IOM seeks to raise levels of public awareness in Yemen about COVID-19 by educating communities on the measures they can take to help fight the virus.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, KSrelief has provided a wide range of medical sector aid and support to Yemen and many other countries, in accordance with directives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and HRH the Crown Prince to help alleviate the suffering of all in need.
