Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, President of the General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage, confirmed that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the first supporter of the archeology sector in the Kingdom, since its establishment 50 years ago, is known to be interested in antiquities sector from the very beginning; has stood firm against attempts to ignore and remove or destroy antiquities sites and national heritage, and, instead, adopted important and historic decisions to protect antiquities since the reign of late King Saud.
In remarks following the opening yesterday of “Treasures of China” exhibition, Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz said that the Saudi national antiquities sector is not new and we are building on what officials and citizens have built before us. They worked in the sector and did more than we did”.
He added that the exhibition hosted by the National Museum in Riyadh reflects the cooperation between the two departments in charge of preserving antiquities in the two countries, recalling that his organization has travelled with the Kingdom’s magnificent expo to Beijing some time earlier.
