HARGEISA, SOMALILAND: King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) recently distributed 15,400 food baskets (1,386 tons) for 92,400 people in the city of Hargeisa in Somaliland; the aid is being provided in cooperation with the National Disaster Preparedness and Food Reserve Authority (NADFOR) of Somaliland.
Faisal Ali Sh. Mohamed, the Commissioner of NADFOR, thanked the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and KSrelief for their ongoing support to the people of Somaliland. He also thanked KSrelief’s branch office in Africa for following up the humanitarian situation in Somaliland and providing urgent relief to crisis-affected and vulnerable groups.
The Assistant Director of the KSrelief Branch Office in Africa, Yusuf Bakhit Al Balushi, said that despite the global spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has resulted in serious interruptions in the international air transportation network, KSrelief has continued to provide assistance to the people of Somaliland. 2,700 tons of food baskets were allocated to 30,000 families; each basket weighed 90 kilograms, and contained sufficient staple food items to help feed a family for a month. 2,600 food baskets were also allocated for volunteer teachers in Somaliland, and were distributed under the guidance of KSrelief.
