SEIYUN, YEMEN: King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), working with the World Health Organization (WHO), recently launched a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing protocol at the National Center for Central Public Health Laboratories in Seiyun city, Hadramawt. This work will help to speed up diagnosis of COVID-19 in the local population.
The Director of the National Center for Central Public Health Laboratories in Seiyun, Dr. Nabil Ba’abbad, explained that the work of implementing PCR is divided into four main biological examination rooms fully equipped with qualified laboratory staff. He added that having PCR will contribute to the quick detection of cases of COVID-19, and will save even more time by eliminating the need to send samples to laboratories outside the governorate for processing.
Hadramawt’s governor, Issam Habrish Alkathiri, Director General of the Ministry of Public Health and Population, Dr. Hani Al-Amoudi, and Head of KSrelief’s Office in Ma’rib, Abdulrahman Al Sayari, attended the launch.
