KSrelief’s MASAM Teams Continue to Deactivate Explosive Devices in Yemen

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA: During the first week of December 2020, MASAM project teams from King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) deactivated a total of 1,630 explosive devices in Yemen, including 15 antipersonnel mines, 187 anti-vehicle mines, 6 improvised explosive devices and 1,422 pieces of unexploded ordnance. Since the project began in June 2018, MASAM teams have deactivated a total of 203,015 Houthi militia-planted devices.

Militia groups have deployed more than a million explosive devices in populated areas throughout Yemen during the ongoing conflict there. These devices have killed and wounded many innocent civilians and remain a serious threat to the safety and security of Yemen.
