RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA: During the first week of October 2020, MASAM project teams from King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) deactivated a total of 1,857 explosive devices, including one antipersonnel mine, 417 anti-vehicle mines, and 1,439 pieces of unexploded ordnance. Since the project began in June 2018, MASAM teams have deactivated a total of 191,045 Houthi militia-planted devices.
Militia groups have deployed more than a million explosive devices in populated areas throughout Yemen during the ongoing conflict there. These devices have killed and wounded many innocent civilians and remain a serious threat to the safety and security of Yemen.
