RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA: During the second week of April 2020, MASAM project teams from King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) deactivated a total of 1,401 explosive devices, including 28 antipersonnel mines, 259 anti-vehicle mines, 7 improvised explosive devices and 1,107 pieces of unexploded ordnance. Since the project began in June of 2018, MASAM teams have deactivated a total of 159,805 Houthi-militia-planted devices.
These militia groups have deployed more than a million explosive devices in populated areas throughout Yemen during the ongoing conflict there. The devices have killed and seriously injured many innocent civilians, and remain a serious threat to the safety and security of Yemen.
