The death toll in last Friday’s Aegean Sea earthquake rose to 116 on Wednesday
KSRelief will provide those affected by the earthquake in Turkey with urgent medical and humanitarian aid
JEDDAH: King Salman has ordered the dispatch of urgent aid to the thousands of people affected by an earthquake in the Turkish city of Izmir, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Friday.
The 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck on Oct. 30 in the Aegean Sea and was felt as far away as Athens and Istanbul. The quake toppled buildings over, injuring thousands. The death toll rose to 116.
The aid will be dispatched through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) and comes within the king’s keenness to stand by the Turkish people and alleviate the devastating effects of the earthquake, which caused heavy loss of life and damage to property, and as an extension of the humanitarian role played by the Kingdom during crises.
Meanwhile in Sudan, KSRelief is continuing with its work to provide vital shelter for those affected by floods. It distributed 139 tents in Khartoum, benefiting 834 people.
HIGHLIGHTS
The aid will be dispatched through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief).
Its clinics are providing medical services in the Zaatari camp for Syrian refugees in Jordan, where around 435 patients with various health conditions were treated.
The center is also offering essential medical services for displaced people at Waalan camp in Yemen’s Haradh directorate.
KSRelief, which was established in 2015, has contributed to humanitarian projects worth nearly $4.7 billion in partnership with different global nonprofit organizations.
It has implemented more than 1,367 different projects in 54 countries, especially in conflict zones and tragedy-stricken areas.
According to a recent KSRelief report, the countries and territories that have benefited the most from its projects include Yemen ($3.3 billion), Palestine ($360 million), Syria ($297 million) and Somalia ($198 million).

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA: Immediately following yesterday’s devastating explosion at Beirut Port, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) responded to the disaster to help Lebanese medical teams provide emergency assistance on the ground.
KSrelief supports several charitable associations and medical aid teams and facilities in Lebanon, and deployed these resources to aid in the response. Ambulances operated by the Souboul Al Salam Association and supported by KSrelief, traveled from northern Lebanon to Beirut to assist in transporting wounded blast victims to available medical facilities.
Additionally, a specialized team from Al-Amal Medical Center in Arsal, which is funded by KSrelief, is supporting medical evacuation work, providing ambulance and emergency health care services across Beirut. The Al-Amal Center has also announced a blood donation campaign to meet the extensive blood supplies needed by local hospitals to treat victims of the blast.

RIYADH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received telephone calls from the King of Bahrain, the crown prince of Kuwait and the speaker of Iraq’s parliament checking on King Salman’s health.
The crown prince thanked Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Iraq’s Mohammed Al-Halbousi for their calls and concern for the king’s health.
King Salman underwent successful surgery to have his gallbladder removed on Thursday and is in hospital where he is recovering and receiving further treatment.

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s King Salman has been admitted to the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh for medical test, the royal court said in statement early on Monday.
The king was admitted for inflammation of the gallbladder, said the announcement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

ADEN, YEMEN: The Artificial Limbs Center Program in Aden continues to provide a wide range of medical services to Yemeni amputees, thanks to the generous support of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief).
During the past three months, the center provided 776 individual services for 611 beneficiaries, including prosthesis services for 62 patients, and 95 measurement services for 90 patients.
Eighty-three training sessions were conducted for 64 beneficiaries regarding the use of their prosthetic devices. More than 150 technical maintenance activities were carried out for 125 beneficiaries, and 380 physical therapy sessions were provided for 270 beneficiaries.
