RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA: During the third week of December 2020, MASAM project teams from King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) deactivated a total of 1,346 explosive devices, including 26 antipersonnel mines, 180 anti-vehicle mines, 4 improvised explosive devices and 1,136 pieces of unexploded ordnance. Since the project began in June 2018, MASAM teams have deactivated a total of 205,853 Houthi militia-planted devices.
Militia groups have deployed more than a million explosive devices in populated areas throughout Yemen during the ongoing conflict there. These devices have killed and wounded many innocent civilians and remain a serious threat to the safety and security of Yemen.
